Amanda Clearcreek 4 Bloom Carroll 2
The Aces played Bloom Carroll in a great venue at Crew Stadium in a game the Aces players have been excited about since it was scheduled in February. Each team brought about 250 fans to cheer them on and the Aces appeared a little nervous to start the game as Bloom Carroll controlled the first 20 minutes of play. Fortunately for the Aces, Megan Meyer played a great game in goal and was able to keep B-C from scoring in the first half. The Aces played much better in the second 20 minutes but the score remained 0 – 0 at the half.
B-C came out strong in the second half and scored off of a nice cross and header in the 2nd minute of the 2nd half to take a 1 – 0 lead. The score seemed to spark the Aces and 3 minutes later Shelby Smith equaled the score with a shot into the left side of the net on a nice pass from Allison Hines. Just 2 minutes later Allison Hines took the ball up the middle of the field and scored on a strong shot into the bottom right corner to give the Aces a 2 -1 lead. Just 4 minutes later the Aces added to their lead when Shelby Smith sent a crossing pass to Allison Hines who put the ball in the top right corner of the net. B-C scored again with 15 minutes left in the game to close to 3 – 2, but the Aces answered 3 minutes later when Allison Hines played a ball off to Aimee Hall who scored to give the Aces a 4 – 2 lead and finish out the scoring. Brittney Stevens, Gretchen Meyer and Abby Meyer played very strong on defense to turn away a couple of B-C chances and Emily Meyer and Bailey Harrow played strong in the midfield for the Aces.
The win takes the Aces to 3-2-1 overall and 2-1 in the league.
