Amanda-Clearcreek 0 Grandview 3
The Aces were shutout for the first time all season by a very good Grandview
Heights team. The Aces fell behind 2 – 0 at the half and lost by a final
score of 3 – 0. Abby Meyer had 5 saves in goal. The Aces finished the season
with a 14 – 4 – 0 record. A.Meyer 5 saves.

21, 2009 - SECTIONAL TOURNAMENT
Amanda Clearcreek 4 Fairbanks 1
The Aces played a very good Fairbanks team in a first
round tournament game and came away with a 4 – 1 win.
Defensively the Aces played strong all evening and limited
a very fast Fairbanks team to very few scoring opportunities.
Brittany Stevens, Maxine Kirchgessner, Alexis Friesner,
Gretchen Meyer and Taylor Smith all played keys roles
in the defensive effort. Offensively the Aces struck
first when Savannah Sahr found Bailey Harrow twenty
minutes into the game and Bailey was able to beat the
Fairbanks’ goalie. With four minutes to go in the half,
Morgan Baldwin put a ball in front of the goal that
Haley Mathes was able to put over the goalie to give
the Aces a 2 – 0 lead at the half. Just two minutes
into the second half Bailey beat a defender down the
sideline and was able to cross a ball that Haley finished
and just seven minutes later Morgan found Haley again
and Haley was able to beat the goalie to the ball and
complete her hat trick and put the Aces up 4 - 0. With
three minutes remaining in the game the Aces committed
a foul that resulted in a penalty kick that Fairbanks
finished to arrive at the 4 – 1 final score. Abby Meyer
finished the game with 2 saves in goal.

Amanda Clearcreek 11 Hamilton Twp 0
The Aces played very well all evening and had 10 different
players score a goal. The halftime score was 5 - 0.
Scoring goals for the Aces: Bailey Harrow (2), Haley
Mathes, Morgan Baldwin, Taylor Smith, Shala O’Hare,
Savannah Sahr, Brittany England, Brittany Stevens, Macy
Riffle, Maxine Kirchgessner. Assists: Morgan Baldwin
(2) , Bailey Harrow, Savannah Sahr, Haley Mathes, Macy
Riffle. Abby Meyer had 1 save.

Amanda Clearcreek 3 Circleville 4
The Aces scored 3 minutes into the game on a goal
by Savannah Sahr off of an assist from Bailey Harrow
and the scored was tied 1 – 1 at the half. Bailey Harrow
scored off of an assist from Gretchen Meyer and Taylor
Smith scored off of a cross from Morgan Baldwin to account
for the Aces second half goals. Abby Meyer had 8 saves
in goal.

The Aces came out strong and controlled the mid-field
most of the night. The Aces took a 4 – 0 halftime lead
and had 9 different players score in recording their
8th shutout of the season. This was Senior Night for
the Aces where the 4 seniors (Abby Meyer, Gretchen Meyer,
Shelby Smith and Brittany Stevens) were recognized.
Scoring goals for the Aces: Taylor Smith (2), Andrea
Hollett, Savannah Sahr, Bailey Harrow, Morgan Baldwin,
Gretchen Meyer, Shala O’Hare, Brittany Stevens, Abby
Meyer. Assists: Morgan Baldwin (3), Haley Mathes, Savannah
Sahr, Sierra Jepsen, Maxine Kirchgessner, Taylor Smith.
Andrea Hollett had 1 save.

Amanda Clearcreek Aces 6 Bloom Carroll 2
The Aces struggled with Bloom-Carroll’s speed in the
first half and fell behind 2 – 0 twenty minutes into
the game. Just before halftime Shelby Smith converted
a penalty kick to put the Aces on the board. In the
second half the Aces played with more energy and a sense
of urgency and scored 5 unanswered goals. Shelby Smith
scored again and Bailey Harrow scored twice and Savannah
Sahr and Haley Mathes each scored. Taylor Smith, Gretchen
Meyer and Morgan Baldwin each had an assist. Abby Meyer
had 5 saves.

Amanda Clearcreek Aces 3 Liberty Union 0
The Aces seemed to play a little tentative the first
half and struggled putting the ball in the goal most
of the night. Shelby Smith scored the first goal off
of a pass from Bailey Harrow 18 minutes into the first
half and Bailey scored with 2 minutes left in the half
off of an assist from Morgan Baldwin. In the second
half the Aces had many shots on goal but were only able
to capitalize on an unassisted goal from Bailey Harrow.
Once again the defense played very well and Abby Meyer
collected 2 saves in goal.

Amanda Clearcreek 5 West Jefferson 0
The Aces came out strong and scored less than 1 minute
into the game in posting their 6th shutout of the season.
Bailey Harrow scored 3 goals to go with an assist and
Shelby Smith scored twice and had 2 assists. Abby Meyer
recorded 3 saves and the defense of Brittany Stevens,
Maxine Kirchgessner, Alexis Friesner, Courtney Steinmetz
and Gretchen Meyer all played very strong and Morgan
Baldwin played a very good game in the midfield.

Amanda Clearcreek 3 Teays Valley 4
The Aces played a strong Teays Valley team and fell
behind 2 – 0 half way through the first half. The Aces
came back strong as Bailey Harrow scored off an assist
from Gretchen Meyer and 4 minutes later Shelby Smith
scored off of an assist from Bailey Harrow to even things
up at half-time. The Vikings added 2 more goals in the
second half and Savannah Sahr scored for the Aces to
make the final score 4 – 3. Abby Meyer had 6 saves.

Amanda Clearcreek 5 Unioto 2
The Aces played a very fast and skilled
Unioto team and got the win by a final score of 5 – 2. The
Aces scored first but Unioto quickly answered with 2
goals to take a 2 – 1 halftime lead. The Aces came out
strong in the second half and scored 4 goals to earn
the 5 – 2 victory. Bailey Harrow scored twice and Shelby
Smith, Savannah Sahr and Taylor Smith all scored once.
Morgan Baldwin had 2 assists and Savannah Sahr, Gretchen
Meyer and Shelby Smith each had 1 assist. Abby Meyer
had 8 saves on the night and the Aces defense played
very well the second half.

Amanda Clearcreek 2 Lancaster 3
The Aces traveled to Lancaster and dropped
their first game of the season 3 – 2. Lancaster capitalized
on 2 long direct kicks by placing them in the top of
the net. The Aces played hard but were unable to get
their third goal. Bailey Harrow scored twice for the
Aces, both off of assists by Shelby Smith. Abby Meyer
had 5 saves in goal.

Amanda Clearcreek 4 Fairfield Union 0
The Aces
scored 3 first half goals and added one in the second
half to pick up their 7 th win of the season. Shelby
Smith scored the first goal off of an assist from Brittany
Stevens. Bailey Harrow followed with a goal off an
assist from Taylor Smith and Taylor assisted on the
next goal just before the end of the half as Savannah
Sahr scored. Shelby Smith scored the Aces second
half goal off of a free-kick. Abby Meyer had 3 saves
in goal.

Amanda Clearcreek 2 Canal Winchester 0
The Aces faced a very tough and fast Canal Winchester
team and came away with a 2 – 0 win. The scored was
knotted at 0 – 0 at the half with both teams playing
well have generating opportunities. The Aces finally
got on the board in the second half when Taylor
Smith won a tough ball in the corner and sent a
pass to Shelby Smith. Shelby was able to gather
the ball and bend a shot over the CW goalie from
25 yards out to give the Aces a 1 – 0 lead. 6 minutes
later Bailey Harrow crossed a precision pass to
Shelby just in front of the goal that Shelby finished
to give the Aces a 2 – 0 win. Defensively
the Aces recorded their 4th shutout in a row and Abby
Meyer had 6 saves in goal. Maxine Kirchgessner,
Brittany Stevens and Alexis Friesner played outstanding
defensively the entire night.

Amanda Clearcreek 6 Heath 0
The Aces jumped out to a quick 5 – 0 lead 9 minutes
into the game and only gave up one shot the entire night.
Shelby Smith scored the first two goals of the night
off assists from Bailey Harrow and Taylor Smith. Taylor
then got in on the scoring when she took the ball down
the left sideline to score unassisted. Savannah Sahr
scored the first goal of her young career off of a great
shot from the left side. Morgan Baldwin scored off of
an assist from Andrea Hollett to finish the first half
scoring. Shelby Smith opened the 2nd half by scoring
20 seconds in to finish the scoring. The Aces totaled
35 shots on the night. Abby Meyer recorded 1 save.

Amanda Clearcreek Aces 7 Logan Elm 0
The Aces were very strong in the middle of the field
and the defense once again played very well as the Aces
recorded their second straight shutout with a 7 – 0
win over host Logan Elm. The Aces took a 3 – 0 lead
at the half as Bailey Harrow recorded a first half hat
trick off assists from Gretchen Meyer and 2 from Shelby
Smith. The Aces continued to apply pressure in the second
half as Morgan Baldwin scored off an assist from Andrea
Hollett, Alexis Friesner converted a penalty kick, Shelby
Smith finished with a header off an assist from Bailey
and Brittany Stevens scored with 7 minutes remaining
to finish the scoring. Abby Meyer made 3 save in goal.

Amanda Clearcreek Aces 3 Logan 0
The Aces played a strong 80 minutes to record their
first shutout of the season. Abby Meyer played exceptional
in goal and the defense did not allow a shot on goal
the entire 2nd half. Scoring for the Aces was Bailey
Harrow off of an assist from Morgan Baldwin in the first
half and unassisted in the second half. Shelby Smith
also scored in the second half on a volley to herself
inside the box after receiving a lob from Morgan. The
entire defense of Gretchen Meyer, Brittany Stevens,
Alexis Friesner and Courtney Steinmetz played well.

Amanda Clearcreek Aces 2 Columbus Academy 1
The Aces went on the road and picked up a tough win.
The Aces narrowly missed on a couple of early scoring
chances and Shelby Smith scored from 25 yards out off
a pass from Haley Mathes with 8 minutes left in the
first half to take a 1 – 0 halftime lead. Shelby added
a second score when the CA goalie bobbled a free kick
from Morgan Baldwin to make it 2 – 0. CA scored with
5 minutes remaining to make the final score 2 – 1. Defensively
the Aces played very strong again with Maxine Kirchgessner,
Brittany Stevens, Alexis Friesner and Courtney Steinmetz
all playing well. Abby Meyer was again strong in goal
with 4 saves.
August 25, 2009
Amanda Clearcreek Aces 5 Fisher Catholic 1
The Aces opened their season with a 5 to 1 win over
Fisher Catholic. The Aces scored twice in the first
half and had an “own goal” to make it 2 – 1 at the half.
The Aces were able to create more scoring opportunities
in the second half and added 3 more goals to make the
final score 5 – 1. Defensively the Aces played very
strong and Abby Meyer came up big in goal. Scoring for
the Aces was Shelby Smith with 2 goals, Bailey Harrow
with 2 goals, and Taylor Smith with 1 goal. Morgan Baldwin
had 2 assists and Savannah Sahr, Shelby Smith and Bailey
Harrow all added an assist. Abby Meyer had 7 saves in
goal. |
